Incidently, I have searched for updates on the "8800F on linux" yesterday, without any hope, because I have been looking every 6 month or so. If sane supports the 8800F, I will be more than happy to dump the scanner-vmware
It worked, but it was ugly, because the frontend programs on windows are different for each scanner manufacturer - and I have not seen a good one yet. But since the scanner is acually a very good one, I setup a windows vmware just to use the scanner. Thank you very much for putting all this effort into the driver! I bought the 8800F because I needed a good negative and dia scanner, knowing that no linux drivers were available. Alternatively, users might have to download a CVS version of SANE after the modified pixma files are uploaded there at around that time (the code is undergoing review now).
The modifications should with some luck be available in the next release of SANE towards the end of April 2010.
